Welcome to Edinburgh Labour Club
“Hi, thanks for taking the time to look at our website. Although independent of the Labour Party, the Edinburgh University Labour Club exists to promote the principles and ideals of the labour movement, both on campus and in the wider community. To this end, we hold weekly meetings, often with guest speakers and debates, for members to meet like minded individuals, and exchange views. We run campaigns which reflect our beliefs - our members have recently been involved in the effort to stop variable top-up-fees being introduced in Scotland, and have fought for greater protection for students from landlords in Edinburgh. We also assist in the campaigns of the Labour Party, particularly during election time.
“We offer an excellent opportunity for students, who consider themselves to be centre-left, to get involved in politics. But don't just take my word for it - why not come along to a meeting and judge for yourself? For more information, contact me at Judhar2004@yahoo.co.uk.
Thanks, Jude” |
Massive Freshers Week Events
During Freshers week we will be holding a number of awesome events to come along to, meet the society, get involved and also chat to some of the major movers and shakers of the Scottish political scene in an informal environment. We end our week with a massive 'lazer' Quest battle to discover which political party is best - the way all elections should be decided! Best of all - everything is FREE!!!!
We might all be for the working classes but that doesnt mean sometimes we don't like to live it up once in a while. Come and enjoy Champagne, canapes and Socialism with us, Lord George Foulks MSP and Margaret Curran MSP. Wednesday 12th of Sept 7pm Teviot, New Meeting Room.
A fascinating debate about the future of Labour's environmental policies, where we are going and what we are doing to help save the world. With Sarah Boyack MSP and SERA. Thursday 13th of Sept 4pm Teviot, Terrace Bar.
This is it! Time to for the final and ultimate battle between Left and Right.... and the Lib Dems. Stupid amounts of fun awaits us! Friday 14th of Sept 2pm (be sharp) Steps of Teviot.
